Red Cream Soda

One of my fondest memories is when I was a young girl, on a hot summer afternoon, my mother would take my brother, sister and I to the public pool for a swim. I used to love swimming so much more when I was a child. I still love it, it just seems to be more of a hassle now (or I have just become less spontaneous and carefree or something...). I would swim all afternoon without a care in the world, and then when they blew the whistle to announce 'adult swim', (the time all the children hated the most) and I was forced to put my imagination on hold and take a break. During this time my mother would present me with two quarters, then I would run down to the soda pop machine and pick the soda of my choice. And I always chose red cream soda. I don't even like red cream soda that much. But whenever I have it now, it makes me think of those days.

And I miss not caring about such silly things that I care so much about now. It is simply disheartening.
